Farm House Christmas

Hello!  Thanks for stopping by!  Feel free to visit me on Facebook to.

I’ve never been one to feel completely comfortable in my ability to Christmas decorate.  Why?  Because I have kids.  Enough said, right?  But really, every time I want to take a few nice shots, there’s toys laying around, couch pillows on the floor, 16 jackets hanging from one hook, and possibly a random sock that I missed until after I go back and look at the pictures.

However, the Holidays are really time for family, celebrating traditions with my kids and watching the smiles on their faces.  So today I’m sharing our dining room as it is.  I have kids’ jackets hanging, toys may be laying on the floor, and I sure have a ton of all my kids’ past DIY projects they’ve made at school or church.  Along with items that were from family as well.  These are the things I love.  It’s not perfect, but it’s home.

I’ve been hauling these 5 dining chairs around with us for the past 5ish years.  I FINALLY got around to getting them painted and they look amazing in our dining room.  And they are so extremely comfortable!  I love them, worth the wait!

Who doesn’t have an elf??  She sure photo bombed this picture.

The zinc pedestal used on the table can be purchased here.  I love it to add height.  It’s great to add height to those bulkier centerpieces so you are not constantly trying to look through them to see your guests.

This sleigh is one of my favorite pieces.  It’s huge, it’s heavy, but I love it and have never seen anything else like it before.  I love just throwing a tree and lights, and some ‘presents’ in there and done.

I just learned, after living here for 2 years, we have some REALLY amazing trees for fresh greenery.  I couldn’t help but cut some branches and spread them around the house.

The plates were handed down to me that my great grandmother used.  The snowman was made by my mother-in-law.  And the towel on the door is handmade by my husband’s grandma.

My mother-in-law made this cute Santa.

I love chairs that are big enough when you can add a pillow.  It just makes it feel more inviting and like home.

There you have it, our dining room.   Some of our favorite items are ones that are handmade or handed down to us from family.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your families this week!
