Do you use the Space Bags yet??

I recently celebrated one of our many Christmas’ this past weekend.  We live in a smaller home with 2 kids and a crafting diva.  So space gets a litte tight.  My mother asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told her ‘storage’.  I guess she did some serious thinking about this and came up with the Space Bags.  We have a lot of spare blankets for when family comes to visit, some old family quilts, and baby items (that we’ll be needing again soon).   All this STUFF was taking up room in the biggest closet in our house.  So the next day, I thought I would pull these bags out and start….space bagging.

I actually had a few more extra down comforters that is not shown here also.  There was 15 bags in the box that I recieved.  There is all different sizes including travel sizes for your suitcases!  I thought I’d start out with cleaning out the clothes in my closet.  I’m expecting our 3rd child and now starting to not fit into some of my clothes.  I brought out my maternity clothes which only packed my closet.  I didn’t want all these ‘skinny’ clothes laughing at me every time I opened the closet doors, so away they need to go until another day.  I used one of the Cube bags.  You are supposed to place it into the bin first, then fill it to the fill line, and finally using your vacuum cleaner, suck all the air out of the bag.  I was amazed!!!

Yep, I was thinking it too. No way!

Got all the air out.

Got all the air out.

Ta-Da!!!

Ta-Da!!!

I have to be honest, I did NOT think all those clothes would fit into this small bin.  (Now I’m really excited.  What else can I fit in these bags!)

All done!

All done!

Can you believe everything that was shown in the picture above is now this small pile of bags!?!?  I’m not sure how I didn’t buy these years ago, but truly amazing if you’re like me.  Someone who lives in a small house but doesn’t want to get rid of things (or a hoarder).  I only used 6 out of the 15 bags.  Eventually I will tackle my fabric in my sewing room (areas/bins/laying around).  Then when you’re ready to use something out of the bags, you simply pull the bag open (like a ziploc baggie) grab what you need and then you can close it up again and vacuum the air out again.

In some of the videos and photos about these they lay the items down the long way and then vacuum them out.  I decided to leave them standing up due to the space I had to fit them in.  I just figured this would be easier for me.

If you have these, then you can imagine my excitement right now.  If you don’t and have the same issues as I do, I would highly recommend them!  Great for better organization.
